Fred’s latest high jewelry collection, unveiled in May, draws inspiration from two defining moments: the brand’s founding in 1936 and its legendary “Soleil d’Or” yellow diamond.
This focused collection of 19 pieces highlights Fred’s mastery in blending history with modern design.
The “1936” line revisits Fred Samuel’s early years on Paris’s Rue Royale. It features classic Art Deco motifs, such as arches inspired by the street’s architecture, crafted in white gold and diamond settings. Key gemstones include:
- A 7.13-carat cushion-cut Ceylon sapphire
- A 3.63-carat pigeon blood Mozambique ruby
- A 4.24-carat Colombian emerald
Delicate pearls with a rosy sheen nod to Fred’s historic collaboration with Mikimoto, enhancing the vintage elegance of the collection.
This series centers on yellow diamonds, especially the iconic 101.57-carat vivid intense yellow “Soleil d’Or” diamond, repurchased by Fred in 2021.
Signature pieces include a bib necklace set with a 2.01-carat fancy intense yellow diamond, surrounded by a mix of grain-set yellow stones and claw-set white diamonds, creating a radiant, geometric burst effect.
The collection skillfully contrasts yellow and white gold to amplify the diamond’s fiery glow, evident in rings and necklaces that echo the brilliance of sunlight.
With only 19 pieces, Fred opts for concentrated storytelling through jewelry, emphasizing quality and clarity over quantity. This approach caters to high-potential clients who value both artistry and narrative in fine jewelry.
