American Gem Society 2024 Conclave Awards Highlights

The American Gem Society’s 2024 Conclave Awards celebrated outstanding contributions and dedication within the AGS community, honoring recipients with prestigious accolades.

At the Tuesday breakfast general session, Amanda Coleman-Phelps, CGA, Chair of the International Guilds Council, presented the esteemed Sallie Morton Award to Jewelers Mutual Group. This recognition highlighted the group’s unwavering support and significant contributions to AGS since 2008, particularly as a Guilds sponsor advocating for member education, including vital classes on topics such as business security.

Coleman-Phelps also bestowed the Guild of the Year Award upon Andy Martin, CEO of Wishfluence and President of the Northwest Arkansas Guild. Praising Martin’s innovative and community-driven approach to the jewelry industry, she emphasized his embodiment of innovation and engagement within the sector.

In a touching moment, Coleman-Phelps herself received the John J. Kennedy Award, honoring her exceptional service and support to the jewelry industry. This year, Supervisory Special Agent Jeffrey Rolands was recognized for his substantial contributions to industry safety and support for AGS members.

During the annual Titleholders Luncheon on April 17, Kevin Mays, CGA, of John Mays Jewelers, was honored with the Young Titleholder of the Year Award. Maria Brown, RJ, former Chair of the Young Titleholders committee, commended Mays for his dedication, vision, and inspiration.

Additionally, the Black in Jewelry Coalition (BIJC), in collaboration with the Young Titleholders Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, awarded a Conclave registration scholarship to Valerie Madison, a BIJC member, acknowledging her commitment to diversity and inclusion within the industry.

Brown also recognized the Young Titleholders Conclave Scholarship recipients, who were granted Conclave registrations. This year’s recipients included Daniel Abdallah of Maya Caroleena Jewelers, Lisa Bradshaw of John J. Bradshaw, Kimberly Ngarupe of Duke’s Jewelers, Leslie Rollins of Zachary’s Jewelers, David Rubenstein of Betz Jewelers, Torre Spellman of Skeie’s Jewelers, and Tiana Yamaguchi of Vardy’s Jewelers.
